Day 2 of Holiday weekend

So yesterday was another nice day to hit the beach so that's what we did we packed some drinks and snacks and cruised down to Willows for the afternoon.

It would have been a beautiful day for a sail. My preference would be a ski boat but whatever. Last night Elizabeth worked so I went to see Superman. Let me just say that it was a 3hr movie and it was 2hrs too long. The love story way overshadowed the butt kickin that I was expecting. So if you want a pure romance this is the movie for you, if you can stay awake.

Oh Canada and a beach fire...

So to start off this long weekend we thought it would be a great idea to get a bunch of people to go out and have a beach fire at Esquimalt lagoon. We invited some friends and grabbed some drinks and snacks and vegged by the fire. It was a gorgeous night like every night the last two weeks. Some times something so simple as a fire can be such a great time of just laughing and enjoying the company of friends. Last night we watched the firewoks at a friends house instead of venturing into the mass chaos of downtown. Don't really know what else is planned for this weekend but hopefully it's lots of fun in the sun!!

Becka & Gavin's family shower

To some ,family shower sounds kind of weird, but it's not that kind of shower! Sicko! We had a family get together at Malcolm and Tammy's(Elizabeth's aunt and uncle) on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day and we had lots of fun playing games and eating. It has been a long time since there was a big Cowley get together like that. The young kids provided hours of entertainment and the birds showed Grandma Cowley what they thought of her white pants. There was lots of "liquor" to go around especially for Benjamin, who gave us a whole new meaning of the word.

Baseball Tournament Champs

This past weekend was our baseball tourney at MacDonald Park. The day started off bright and early at 8:30am, which is pretty early to start any kind of physical activity. It turned out to be a really nice day, it was sunny all day and everyone got burnt by the end. I think this year I had the most fun out of any I've played. We had a really fun group of poeple and everyone got along great. Here are a few pics from the day.
After our first game we headed off to have some breakfast at the cafe on the breakwater.
this is what a baseball player is supposed to look like(maybe not the pink shirt).
This is the first year we actually took a team photo. Mostly it was due to the fact that I got a new camera.
Just a random shot.

Toys Toys Toys!!!!!

This is definetly the most worthy update I have put on this site. Actually I take that back I don't want to get in trouble, But I'm really excited. This week I recieved my new laptop that I ordered from Dell. It's a inspiron6400. Dual core processor/100gb hard drive/1gb ram/ windows media edition/15.4 widescreen. We've had the same dinosaur for years and we we're due for a new one.

We're not done yet! I got a second treat this week which is my new camera. This bad boy is a whopping 9 megapixels/10.7x optical zoom/ I also bought a 1gb memory card. The camera has so many features I won't bore you with them. Some of you may be so bored with this entry you haven't even got to this point. But if your reading this I guess you LOVE electronics just like me.

Elizabeth's Graduation

It's Official, Elizabeth has her Diploma and was at UVIC for the last time on Friday! Elizabeth had her ceremony on Friday and did the walk up to get her diploma. It was a pretty good ceremony and wasn't even that long considering there was a hundred or so other Nurse grad's. It was just me and her Mom in attendance due to limited seating. I tried to get pictures inside but wasn't all that succesful due to poor lighting. I am very proud of Elizabeth for sticking it through all these years and doing so well in her classes and practicum.
This is Elizabeth getting her diploma and walking across the stage. Her name was at the begining so we had to sit around and watch all the other nurses walk on by.
This next picture is my absolute favorite. Elizabeth is shocked that she actually is finished her Nursing school.

Ryan and Elisa's for the weekend

This weekend we went to R&E's new place. It was kind of a spur of the moment trip but they graciously had us over. We had tons of fun!! When we first got there we went to Whiterock to eat dinner at a place called "Charlie Don't Surf". The food was good and it turned out to be a nice warm day. After dinner we walked around the pier for a while.

After Whiterock we went to Ikea to have a look at everything ,we also checked out some cribs and baby stuff. After Ikea we went to R&E's to check out the crib( that is to say their home). I thought I took more pics of it but I guess not. Well I have more pics to add but stupid blogger isn't working right now so maybe a part two will be coming a bit later.

Holy cow, we have a heartbeat!!!!!

Today was the first real doctor's appointment for Elizabeth. I wish I could have been there but I was up island. Today Elizabeth heard our little babies heartbeat for the first time!!!!! It has a healthy beat of 150 beats per minuite. There is also only one heartbeat which means no brothers or sisters at the same time, thank the lord! Five weeks from now is our first ultrasound at V.G.H. that will be crazy. We will definetly get a picture of it so stay tuned for the first photo. Even though the baby has a heartbeat it is still only about 5cm long. Elizabeth has not gained a pound yet in her pregnancy, she is determind to be on the cover of "Fit Pregnancy Magazine" in a teeny weeny itsy bitsy yellow polkadot bikini. As it turns out we are farther along than we thought, 13 weeks to be exact. This means the new ETA of Jr. is Dec.2!!!
This is a picture of ??____?? at 13weeks just kickin' it.

Baby on board!!!!!!!!!

Just in case some of you don't know already yes we are expecting a little one. We did pretty good keeping it under wraps for 11 weeks, but it just got too hard and we got too excited. It was a total surprise for us and not planned at all, as we were planning to take ourselves south for a couple of years. At first we were pretty freaked out about the whole thing and didn't really talk about it for 3 weeks. The realization is settling in and we are now very excited. We have postponed our trip to California for the time being but do plan to still make the trip after the baby(probably 1 year). But for now we are learning as we go and are looking forward to having a child while we are young and energetic. We always read your comments and definitely wouldn't mind some advice from some of the parents. Now the news is officially out and we will update as we go along this journey into the unknown.

?????Port Renrew?????

This entry is kind of an odd one I think. I mean how exciting can a trip to Port Renrew be. Honestly not much, but as this is my blog site I will fill it however I feel with what ever dribble I want.
.....I arose this cool rainy morning as like any other. As I lifted my head from my pillow dreading another post holiday work day, I thought to myself gosh it sure would be great to drive all the way to Port Renfrew in the pouring rain in a broken down work van smelling of lacquer thinner rendering me stoned and dizzy by the time I finally get to my final destination.
Although I admit it was a long drive it was a drive I had never done before. I couldn't remember ever being past China Beach. On the way there as I was rounding a corner I saw this big black thing in the middle of the road ahead. As I drove closer I saw that it was a black bear. The bear darted across the highway and leaped onto a rock cliff and quickly scaled up the side into the bush. I thought that was the coolest thing because I never see bears around here. Well a few km's up the road ,again a black thing on the road. This bear was BIG he was twice as big as the first one and didn't move until I was right up on him. I have never seen a bear that close and thought it was pretty cool.

BBQ @ T&J's

This last weekend was the Victoria Day holiday weekend. With Victoria Day comes the parade downtown which is always a great time of coffee, second rate marching bands and a lot of mocking. As you will notice there are no pictures of this great event, mainly due to the reason that nobody went this year. Holiday Monday was a misserable day of wind, rain and below seasonal temperatures. With this weather no one wants to be outside facing the elements for hours and hours, other hand we don't mind being inside stuffing our faces with greasy bbq'd burgers and cheese dogs, right!!!! That's what we did at Tricia and Justin's in the afternoon. We crammed everyone we could fit in their new house which totalled 24 including children.
Justin tending the grill outside in the rain.
Here's just a few of the many people that were there, the crowds spilled into the living room as well as upstairs in the kids/Todd room.

Summer BBQ"S!!!!!!!

This is a great weekend!!! The reason for that is because #1 It's a long weekend and #2 we finally got a new bbq just in time for the hot summer ahead. I've never owned a new bbq and I'm very excited to bbq anything I can find. If you didn't know my favorite show on T.V. is called "Licence To Grill". The show is on the Food Network Channel at 3:00pm every weekday. Rob Rainford makes amazing dishes with the bbq

Mom's Here

Sorry the site hasn't been updated for a while but we have been busy busy. Last week my Mom was in town for my aunt Bev's 50th Birthday. It was great to have Mom here because we only see her once or twice a year. She got a chance to see T&J's new house and helped them with landscaping the yard. It was a good week and we miss Mom already.
